My Favorite Products and Other Tips & Tricks

When I was diagnosed with TNBC I immediately went on Amazon to see what products I needed to make the cancer journey more comfortable. I spent money on things I’ll never use, like wigs, I frantically bought stuff as if having these things would somehow help cure me. Hopefully I can help you from making the same mistake.

Don’t get me wrong, Amazon did come through with some of my “can’t get through chemo without” items. Most of which are in the picture. I do have a “cancer sucks” wishlist but it’s a lot smaller now. Dry mouth and mouth sores are no joke during chemo. The Oncology mouth wash and Xyli-melt tabs are a must have. Aveeno baby wash shampoo is great for the peach fuzz left by chemo. And Mary Kay has an amazing lotion for sunburns that is extremely hydrating and works great during radiation to avoid burns.

I did purchase a few mastectomy shirts with the built in drain pouch, but I found the chemotherapy t-shirts to be unnecessary. A v-neck shirt works great on infusion days. I do use LMNT and Liquid IV hydration packets, staying hydrated is a must during chemotherapy. If you’re going to be receiving Taxol infusions you’ll need to ice your hands and feet. They make booties and gloves for this, but before you purchase them check with your infusion team, I received mine from them.

You’ll definitely want something to pass the time during infusions. I put adult color books, gel pens, journals, and books on my cancer wish list. When anyone asked what I needed I shared my list with them.

I hope this helps alleviate a little of the stress that comes with a cancer diagnosis. But remember these are my personal opinions of products that worked for my mom and I.
